The Stemme S6 glider

The Stemme S6

The heart of our club, our Stemme S6, is a self-launching motor glider, capable of taking off on its own. It is powered by the Rotax 914 engine, famous world-wide for its reliability and performance.

★ It's the platform our students train on to work toward their Private Pilot License – Glider (PPL-G).

Flying the glider

What makes it special?

A self-launching glider doesn't require an entire team to send one person up. For a normal glider, we need at the very minimum two planes, two pilots, a wing runner, and a golf cart or other means to tow the plane out to the launch site. It's independent, and can operate on days when the weather isn't ideal.

Its Rotax 914 engine ensures we can perform a dozen approaches in the time a normal glider can do just one, and back-to-back learning greatly accelerates student learning.
